The film packs a powerful, pertinent comment in its conciseness. The entirety of the narrative unfolds within the confines of a single conversation. Three men discuss the sexual assault and violence inflicted on women. One of the characters mentions how more and more of these cases are being brought to light, only to be dismissed by another, saying that of course women who step out of the house and dress in a certain way, deserve what is coming their way. 

The most crucial character, however, in this entire development becomes the fourth man, the quiet listener who does not participate directly. In a notable, controlled, and skilled manner, the film thus presents a crucial commentary on sexism, misogyny, and the extremely damaging and rampant forces of patriarchy wreaking havoc on society.

The short film conjures an interesting narrative about a character struggling with childhood trauma as a result of being trapped in a dysfunctional household. With a life that was set against the hinterland of his parents' constant quarrels, the protagonist grows up to want to escape it all and achieves it by taking up a job in a different city. The film experiments with its visual style, showing great potential in camerawork and the resultant drama that unfolds on screen. There is also a constant sense of unreliability when it comes to watching the story from the point of view of the protagonist - did it truly happen or not? Whether or not the story intended it, it becomes one of its inherent strengths. Overall, the film comes across as one that exhibits an engaging story and an ambitious attempt to share it with the viewer.

The short film attempts a narrative of thrill and suspense within the confines of its short duration. The story is of a serial killer on the loose in the city of Mumbai. As people continue to live in fear, a young woman is alone at her house. From frightening dreams to lurking shadows of the night, her reality too is afflicted by the imminent danger that the killer carries with him. The film employs dim-lit frames to invoke its desired atmosphere, but perhaps could have gained with a little more polishing of the camerawork. However, there still awaits the climax and what follows thereafter. The conclusion brings with it an unexpected turn for the viewer, and when it finally arrives, would you be able to stomach it?

Intruder | Short Film Nominee

The short film attempts too many things in terms of its ideas, treatment and execution, and manages to touch only the surface of the several categories. It's the story of a boy addressing his addiction and is the consequent portrayal of the conversation he has with it. The film would have benefitted greatly with a shorter length and more seamless editing. It earns a mention for the thought behind the writing and the attempts of young filmmakers to find their voice.
