Three men and a woman constitute the world of the film. An attempt is made to stylize its storytelling with an overlap of narratives. The many crossroads that exist between each character are eventually explained at the film’s conclusion. Until then, it is a story of rejection, heartbreak, and a threat of violence that ties it all together. The end result is impeded a little by an inconsistency of visuals. The storytelling, on the other hand, shows sincerity and a desire for narrative-building that could be explored further in future projects.

The complexities of the human mind are endless, and so is the number of versions of realities and illusions it can conjure. The short film is an interaction with the same ideas, portraying the extent to which a person's consciousness can create problems for itself, as well as the extent to which the defence mechanisms would go for self-preservation. The narrative is an honest attempt to tell its story of a protagonist who has recurrent nightmares about a killer following him. Fearing for his life, he seeks out a mental health expert to help him make sense of his reality. As things unfold one after another, there indeed awaits the most unexpected truth for him as well as the viewer. At the unravelling of it all, where will the protagonist truly find himself?

Cursed | Short Film Nominee

The film is a fictional retelling of the story of Elfriede Maria Schmidt, a German woman who spent the last decade of her life in India. A Jewish woman who had lost her father in the Second World War, Maria found her way to India after a failed marriage to a Pakistani man. The narrative shows the final years of her life, away from any loved ones. In the process, the film also becomes a comment on loneliness and isolation, especially in old age. The story is presented to the viewer through the account of a journalist who tries to figure out the details of her life before her passing away. It further draws attention to the issue of unclaimed bodies of those who have no friends and family to come forward for their last rites after their death. The film is an honest and noble attempt and puts forth the same intention in a sincere manner.
